How it Happened

The Dirt Dawgs got the scoring started in the top of the first inning, as they plated five runs with just one hit coming from Andrew Bene (Shippensburg) to cap off the inning. The Navigators cut into the early Wachusett lead, as Alec Cargin (Wofford) hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the second inning.

The Dawgs got the lead back to five runs as Joe Jumonville (Northern Ill) drove in two runs with a single in the top of the third. In the fourth, Wachusett pushed it to a seven run advantage as Mike Coggeshall (Assumption) doubled home a pair of Dawgs.

After Brandon Morse (Adephi) picked up his first RBI of the season in the top of the sixth, the Navigators plated a pair. Tower struck again in the top of the seventh, as the cleanup hitter launched a grand slam, putting the Dawgs up 14-4.

Two innings later, Tower his second homerun of the contest, this time a two run shot for his 16th of the season. In the bottom of the ninth, North Shore added one run, but Anthony Assante (St. Peter's) strikeout all three outs to close the door.
