Gaels Host Akwesasne This Weekend

The Green Gaels look to take advantage of home floor tonight at 8PM at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex when they host the Akwesasne Indians in Game #3 of the OJBLL Eastern Conference Finals.

Akwesasne currently lead the series 2 - 0 after two tight games in Akwesasne last weekend. Returning home to Clarington, the Gaels have to win to continue the series onto Saturday evening, and again to finish the series Sunday afternoon, with all remaining games in the series taking place at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex.

Saturday's game was one the Gaels let slip away, after a 6 - 1 lead part way through the second period, the Gaels started handing back goals and allowed Akwesasne to tie it up at the end of two periods. Russ Oakes scored the game winner with about 7 minutes left in the third and the Gaels could not answer.

Sunday's game was a back and forth affair, only once did either team score three consecutive goals throughout the entire game, keeping the score close throughout. Powered on by the home crowd at the A'nowara'ko:wa Arena, Akwesasne powered through on the strength of Skye Sunday's four goals, two of which came in the third period to put the score out of reach for the Gaels, wasting an 8 point effort by Jeff Fernandes for the Gaels.

Coming back home to the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex will be a nice feeling for the boys in Green as the home town crowd will be out to support the Gaels in their quest to come back from 2 - 0 down in the series. Rickard will be loud and shaking tonight, and all throughout the weekend. Fernandes will look to continue his hot play with 12 points in the first two games of the series, leading the team in playoff points, hopefully helping to lead the Gaels to the comeback this weekend.

Tickets for Green Gaels Home Playoff Games are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and students, while children 12 and under are admitted free under the supervision of an adult. Kids, don't forget to bring your helmet and sticks to go on the floor in between periods at all Gaels home games!
