BRISTOL, Conn. – In a battle for the top of the Western Division, the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs use a complete team effort to take down the Bristol Blues in Futures Collegiate Baseball League action, Tuesday afternoon at Muzzy Field.

How it Happened
On the mound, Jon Gegetskas (Westfield State) pitched a gem for the Dawgs, the southpaw went 7.0 innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs, while striking out nine Blues batters. Jake Coro (SNHU) went 3 for 4 at the dish for Wachusett, including driving in a pair of runs.
The Dirt Dawgs were the first ones to get on the board as Zack Tower (Franklin Pierce) picked up the RBIs after the Blues pitching staff allowed five walks in the inning. Bristol would respond in the bottom half of the frame as Garrett Blaylock (Vanderbilt) scored on a sacrifice fly to center field.
Andrew Bene (Shippensburg) and Coro both plated a run on RBI singles in the sixth, but the Dirt Dawgs were not done in the inning, as Sean Webster (SNHU) crossed the plate on a successful double steal. Bene added another RBI to his stat line with another single to the outfield, plating Kyle Cala (Wagner) in the seventh.
Webster would score once again in the eighth inning, as Coro drove him in with a base knock of his own after a leadoff triple by Webster. The Blues would cut into the Dawgs lead in the bottom f the eighth as Chris Davis (Princeton) drove in Mitch Williams (Fairfield) from second on the singles.
