How it Happened
In his first game back in the lineup, Jeff Korte (Eastern Florida) went 3-for-3 at the plate for the Dawgs, while Jack Gethings (Fairfield) scored the lone Dirt Dawgs run. On the mound, Eddie Santiago (Mitchell) got the start for Wachusett, the southpaw went 5.1 innings, while allowing six hits and one earned run, and struck out four opponents.
In the top of the first inning, Gethings drew a leadoff walk, before advancing to second on single by Korte. The Fairfield product would eventually head to third on a fly out to center field, and would score the game's first run on an error by the shortstop.
It wasn't until the home half of the fourth as Greg Kocinski (Marist) blasted a leadoff homerun to tie the game for the Bravehearts. The Dirt Dawgs would threaten in the top half of the sixth, as they got the bases loaded, but were not able to get a run across.
Worcester took the lead in the bottom half of the seventh inning. After the Dirt Dawgs recorded the first two outs of the inning, Mariano Ricciardi (Florida Atlantic) reached base on a single, before scoring on Trevor Johnson (Dartmouth) doubled to give the Bravehearts the lead.
