Top Speed Baseball at Atwater Aviators 6/18/2017
The Aviators lost both games of the doubleheader on Father's Day, by scores of 4-2 and 17-9.
Game 1
On the Mound-
Joseph Saenz started the game for Atwater. He went 7.1 strong innings, only giving up 6 hits and 2 runs (1 earned) against Top Speed in game 1. Matt Clark (Modesto JC) went 1.2 innings and was charged with the loss as he let up 2 runs in the ninth.
For the Speedos, Walker Ramsey went 6 innings, only giving up 1 run as he limited the Aviators to 3 hits. Mark Hendricks came in relief of Ramsey and went 2 innings, earning the win. Hendricks did not give up a hit, but struck out 2 batters.
Game Summary-
Designated hitter Jimmy Tatum (Trinity University) led the Aviators, going 2-4 at the plate. Brad Bussard (Holy Names University) also had a solid day, batting 1-3 with a walk and a run scored.
For Top Speed, Trevor Achenbach led the Speedos in hits in game 1 as he went 3-4 with two doubles and a stolen base. On top of that, Logan Ehnes was on base in 3 of his 5 at- bats today, drawing three base on balls which turned into one run scored. In the fifth inning, Alex Bee hit a go ahead solo homerun, his third of the summer season.

Game 2-
Nick Gonzalez went two innings for Atwater, recording one strikeout and giving up two runs, none of which were earned. The Aviators bullpen combined to throw 5 innings in which 15 runs scored (9 earned) on 12 hits.
Top Speed started with Matt Stafford, who was only able to go 1.2 innings and gave up 5 runs. Kevin Hahn was first out of the pen, going 2.1 innings, striking out 2 and giving up only 2 hits. Hahn earned this victory in this contest.
Game Summary-
Ryan Frakes (Merced College) was the backbone of Atwater's offense in game 2, going 3-3 with a double, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored. Right behind him, Nikko Delgado (CSU Stanislaus) went 2-3 with a walk and scoring twice for the Aviators.
The Speedos had multiple players have a great game. However, John Gardner went 4-5 with one homerun to go with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI. Lead off batter Trevor Achenbach had a good game again, recording 3 hits in his four at bats( and a walk). Achenbach had 5 RBI and 2 runs scored in addition to his hits. The shortstop was not the only Speedo with 5 RBI as Steven Nice had 5 of his own runs batted in to go with his 4-5 game at the plate, including a homerun.

What's Next: Atwater gets a day off on Monday, but travel back to Top Speed's home turf for a doubleheader on Tuesday. Joe Blair (CSU East Bay) and Brayden Bebee (Henderson State) are the probable starting pitcher for the Aviators.
