BUTTE COBRAS SIGN NET MINDER
Date: Jun 6, 2017
BUTTE–The Butte Cobras have every reason to be confident.
The team is coming off of a two-game sweep in the opening round of the Thorne Cup playoffs against the Bellingham Blaze, the Cobras’ first playoff series win in their three-year history. Including those two playoff wins, the Cobras are now 29-5 since December 8. Next up for Butte is the higher-seeded Southern Oregon Spartans, a team the Cobras have no trouble facing. They finished the regular season with a 4-2 record against the Spartans and the white-hot Cobras are confident in keeping the ball rolling.
“Honestly, I think there’s no team thin this league that believes in themselves as much as we do,” Cobras center, Garrett Hodgson claimed. “From the get-go, we already told ourselves the Thorne Cup is ours, we just need to go take it.”
The journey for the Thorne Cup runs through Medford, where Butte has to travel to take on Southern Oregon. Location doesn’t seem to bother the Cobras though, as they defeated the Spartans in Oregon, 5-2, on March 2.
“We proved that we can beat them,” said Cobras’ center, Earl Webb. “It’s in their rink and they’re gonna really want it, but…we’re gonna go out there and we’re gonna get it done.”
After winning 29 of their last 34 games and taking the regular season series against the higher seed, it’s hard not to believe in Butte.
