The Butte Cobras continued their winning ways.
Jan Marcilis registered a hat trick Friday night, and the Cobras skated past the Vancouver Rangers 7-3 at the Butte Community Ice Center. Stats
The win lifted the Cobras (27-17-2) to 10 games over .500 for the first time in team history. The win was Butte’s 22nd in 26 games.
Ethan Cooney, Chance Aquino, Daniel Armstrong and Derek Smith also scored goals for the home team in the opener of the three-game series.
Augusts Veidenbaums and Petr Panacek each assisted on a pair of goals.
Alex Mitsionis scored twice to lead Vancouver. Jacob Rushlow added a goal.
Butte outshot the Rangers 39-25, and net minder Eric Ahlberg turned away 22 shots in the win.
The teams play again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Sunday’s game, which features free admittance, is the Cobras’ last regular-season home game of the season.
