Meet #35, Freshman Goalie Jacob Snellenburg

Date:  Source: SHSHL: Abington Ghosts

"Freshman Jacob Snellenburg has been rock solid for the club his first year between the pipes on the Varsity roster. He recently stepped up and played every game after his goalie partner was injured. It is an exciting prospect for the club to know that we will have this goalie tandem for two more seasons.

Jacob's favorite subjects are math and science and he hopes to one day attend Boston University as a neuroscience major. In addition to hockey, Jacob also plays tennis. Breaking the rap-hockey stereotype, Jacob prefers top 40 music. His favorite NHLer is the LA King's goalie, Jonathan Quick -whom he styles his play after.

Jacob began playing hockey when he was just three years old, and first strapped on the goalie pads when he was a Squirt. His favorite hockey memory is his first shut out in 1-0 game in Hershey, though it could have been getting picked to play in the 2016 Maccabi USA Games. In keeping with the spirit of this team, Jacob's tells us his favorite quote was when Perry Carpenter chirped, "'Snelly you suck.' and then [he] proceeded to stone him in practice." This team's camaraderie is his favorite thing about Abbypuck, it takes some of the pressure out of the game itself. The person that Jacob admires most on the team is, Senior, Andrew Profit: "I've known him for a while and I always love having a conversation with him or just joking around." His personal goal for the season is to get one [...]. Did he really just say that?!

Jacob has been a steady and solid addition to the lineup. For the club to have such a calm, positionally sound goalie that is only a freshman is very encouraging for the next few seasons."
