Sophomore Ryan Gosselin was one of two players that Abington Ice Hockey actively pursued this summer, and the club was thrilled to add Ryan to our Varsity roster this season. He is an extremely effective two way defenseman that consistently robs the other team of scoring chances, pushes opposition players into the corners and can still carry the puck and score without being caught out of position.
Ryan's favorite subject is math and he hopes to one day attend Quinnipiac University. In addition to hockey, Ryan also plays lacrosse. His favorite quote is, "You can't change your past, but you can change your future." His favorite NHLer is Shayne Gostisbehere.
Ryan started playing hockey when he was seven years old. This season, he plays club in the Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League (EJEPL) with the Philadelphia Revolution's U16 Elite team. His favorite hockey memory is a game in which his team came back from being down 6-0 with 10 minutes in the third period and eventually pulling out a 7-6 win. The Abbypuck player he admires most is Senior Sean Murray whom he says "easily outworks anyone on the team." Ryan has really enjoyed this season with the Ghosts and says the experience has been "really fun."
Though he is currently sidelined with an injury, Ryan has eight points in six games played with the Ghosts. A defenseman with four goals in six games is a coveted hockey commodity. Ryan has quickly become and integral part of this team and if his current injury keeps him from the lineup for the rest of the season, it will be a tough blow. It's fortunate we have two more seasons to watch what he brings to our club!
