STEELHAWKS’ BUSHEY WINS ACH TRAINER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR ...
Date: Mar 15, 2017

A night after dropping a game in Dundas, the Steelhawks looked to pick up their first win of the calendar year when they hosted the Thorold Athletics on Saturday night in ACH action at the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena. Josh and Kyle McQuade would each have a goal and an assist while Kevin Rebelo picked up a pair of assists in the game. However, a wild third period allowed Thorold to escape with the 5-4 victory.
Thorold opened the scoring at 7:31 of the first but just 16-seconds later Kyle McQuade scored to tie up the game. The score remained tied until the 15:38 mark of the second period when Jamie Williams scored to give Hamilton the lead.
The Athletics would then get the equalizer on the power play just 3:38 into the third period before adding two more. Josh McQuade would then score to get the Steelhawks back with in one hut Thorold answered right back 46-seconds later. Mitch McCrank would make it a one goal game again when he found the back of the net with 50-seconds left in regulation but that was as close as Hamilton would get on the night.
Dalton McGrath, Hamilton’s starting goalie, would leave the game around the halfway point of the third period with a lower body injury. As of this time there is no update on his condition.
The Steelhawks head out onto the road for a pair of games before they return home. First up is a trip to Whitby on Saturday January 14th to face the Dunlops starting at 6:30 pm.
