GULL REPRESENT AT WORLD JUNIOR TOURNAMENT

Date:  Source: Long Island Gulls

SyossetNew York – The Long Island Gulls will be well represented when the U.S. opens up their World Junior tournament schedule in Toronto on Monday against Latvia.  Among those named to the 23 man roster were Long Island natives and former Gulls Jeremy Bracco, Adam Fox, and Charlie McAvoy.

McAvoy is enjoying a standout sophomore season at Boston University after being drafted in the first round (14th overall) by the Boston Bruins this past summer.  He is expected to help anchor a talented core of defensemen for the U.S. and will provide leadership while serving as an alternate captain for the squad.

Fox will join McAvoy on the blue line for the American club as they compete in Group A against Slovakia, Russia, and Canada in addition to the opener against Latvia.  Fox was a third round pick of the Calgary Flames this summer and is off to an exceptional start to his college career with 16 points in just 11 games for Harvard thus far.

Jeremy Bracco is expected to help lead the offensive charge for Team USA.   Bracco, a second round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2015, is currently among the Ontario Hockey League’s leading scorers with 51 points in 27 games this season for the Kitchener Rangers.

The World Junior Championships will run from December 26th – January 5th with all games taking place in Toronto and Montreal.  Click here for a complete tournament schedule.
