Hamilton visited the defending league champion Stoney Creek Generals on Saturday night in ACH action and walked away with their third win of the season and their first against Stoney Creek in franchise history.  The Steelhawks would be led by Mitch McCrank who picked up a hat trick and Jamie Williams who had a pair of assists in the game.  With the victory the Steelhawks even their record at three wins and three losses which places them in a tie for third place with the Brantford Blast.

Hamilton got on the board quickly in the first as McCrank scored 4:17 into the game.  He would follow that up with another 43-seconds later and he wasn’t done yet as he scored once again at the 11:22 mark of the first for the natural hat trick which gave Hamilton a 3-0 lead after one period of play.  Jamie Williams would pick up a pair of assists in the period as well, with Steven Trojanovic, Kevin Rebelo and Joe Tolles all picking up a single assist.

Hamilton’s lead didn’t last long as the Generals would score three goals in a 75-second span to tie the game at three in the second period.  Kyle McQuade would give the Steelhawks the lead just past the halfway mark with a low shot that slid just under Stoney Creek’s goalie David Brown’s pads.  The goal turned out to be the game winner.

Steve Guzzo would pick up an empty net insurance goal with 47-seconds left before Zach LaRue scored to make the final 6-3 for Hamilton over the defending ACH champions.

The Steelhawks will stay out on the road for their next game which is on Friday November 18th when they travel to Thorold to face the Athletics starting at 7:27 pm.
