League Tie vs. Rutgers; Loss to D-1 Temple Round out Weekend

Date:  Source: The College of New Jersey Lions

The Lions had a rough weekend where they had to claw from behind all weekend. First in a CSCHC league matchup at Rutgers on Friday where they fell behind 5-2 after 2 periods but managed a tie after the dust cleared in OT. Saturday at home, the team fell behind early and trailed 3-0 going into the 3rd period before finishing up on the wrong end of a 5-2 result.

On Friday, the team traveled up Route 1 to ProSkate, a rink which has not treated the Lions well the past few times they have played there. The first period saw 4 goals scored and TCNJ was luck to get out of the period tied 2-2. kevin collins and Dylan mcmurrer each scored and assisted on each other's goals. Rutgers came out and scored 3 goals in the second to stun the Lions and take a 5-2 lead into the 3rd period, but patrick Tso picked up his teammates in the 3rd, held the Scarlet Knights scoreless and allowed the comeback to be mounted. it took TCNJ 8;10 to score on a goal by Tietjen from Lisciandro. just 3 minutes later Collins found the back of the net on a feed from Dimock. With 3:34 left on what was the play of the night, McMurrer carried the puck across the blue line, and hesitated to give bensky enough time to get to the net and hit him with a perfect pass that he one timed past the goaltender to tie the game. The game remained scoreless in OT and each team took home a point. Tso made 25 saves for the Lions and TCNJ took 44 shots on the Rutgers net.

The following night D1 Temple visted Loucks, scored early, took a 2-0 lead into the 2nd period, scored again in the second and traded 2 goals each with the Lions in the 3rd for a 5-2 final. TCNJ had plenty of chances to find the back of the net in this game but just couldn't finish. Liscandro scored a beatiful goal off a feed from McMurrer and Dimock knocked in a loose puck in front (assist to Moskowitz) for the Lions goals. TCNJ is 1-2 against ACHA D1 competition this season and will face Temple in Jan and PSU-Berks in Feb in return games.

TCNJ has 2 home games this weekend. they face off against St. Joe's on fri at 9:00pm and NJIT on Sat at 6:00pm.
