LETTER FROM PROUD GRANDPA

Date:  Source: North American Independent Hockey Federation

Hello,

Our grandson has played basically in this league for four years now. The last 2 with the ______________. We chose this league over the Alliance, as the politics of hockey in _________ side tracked my grandson's development and we decided to look elsewhere to play. This league gave us an opportunity to discover that being governed by no say or choice could actually happen. Has there been bumps along the way, sure but in any new venture there is bound to be. We joined the __________________ bantam team last year and ____________ Midget this year. _________________have done a fabulous job. _______ is like the father my grandson never had and they sure enjoy each other's company with Lee being a teenager himself with _________ and his teammates. My grandson was asked last year to come back and play in __________ and this year we as a family felt maybe the opportunity of AAA would be a good thing for his career but we talked as a family and we backed his decision to play in this league. We don't regret it for a minute, I coached him since Timbit up until minor peewee here in __________. In these 4 years of hockey with your league and has given him the opportunity to enhance his skills, I am some games in awe of what he can do on the ice. He would not have been able to develop those skills in the environment he had played in before. Sometimes I feel like I would like to show him off to the BOD in __________ for what they have missed out on but then I realize we are very content where we are. Your organization has grown leaps and bounds and will continue to do so as you are committed to the players and families of this association. You have afforded my grandson the right to enjoy hockey once again and at the age of 15 he cannot wait to get to _________ or wherever the games or practices are being held. We are on the road for everyone but I would not trade it for a second, these are bonding times and as he gets older we know the day of minor hockey will come to an end but we know these are lessons that he will pass off to his children. He is so close to his teammates in ______________ that he spends weekends there and this continues on into the summer. He also has made many friendships with players on other teams and actually asks if we can get to the rinks early when we play them so he can hang out with them. Again, none of this would have been able to happen under Hockey Canada's rules, so you should be very proud of the accomplishments of your organization in such little time. If you ever have any questions or would like some of my old time hockey ideas, feel free to call or email me.

Thanks for creating such a great environment for hockey families
