The Cape Cod Islanders made another huge move towards the defense of the division crown today. The team is pleased to announce that former Falmouth Clipper captain, Thomas Tobey has re signed for the 2016-17 season. Last season, Tobey played in 10 games and scored 3 assists with the Islanders before returning to captain the Clippers in his senior season. A late season injury kept him out of the Islander line up for their playoff run but he is healthy and ready to take on the challenges of a full junior hockey schedule.
"It's always great to add a d man that is six foot three and weighs 200 pounds and can move around the ice like Tommy to your line up." coach Jay Punsky said "He is a special player that will add a huge upside to our blueline corps. His physical presence and his sheer strength will have forwards second guessing going into the corner with him. Along with his size and strength, he has a great head for the game and can rip the puck from anywhere on the ice. He is a very talented player that is able to join the rush and add another dimension to our offense."
Tobey will fit great into the Islanders gameplan and will be counted on to add leadership in the locker room.
The Islanders are still looking for a few more billet families to house players this season. If you or someone you know can help out please contact Dan Hodge at daniel.hodge22@gmail.com for information.
