O’Donnell to continue playing career at NCAA Division III’...
Date: May 5, 2017
Nick Thompson was chosen for the NA3HL All-Rookie team for the 2015-16 season. Nick lead all defensemen in the country in scoring and ended up with the fifth best season in history for that position. Nick had 47 games played, with 14 goals, 53 assists for 67 points. Nick also lead the team with a plus 37 rating. He also had 5 power play goals and 26 power play assists and 4 short handed assists and 3 game-winning goals on the season.
Bozeman Icedogs Head Coach Mark Vichorek had this to say about Nick. "Nick had an exceptional year for us and it wasn't just in the numbers categories. He brought poise and great passing for our power play that ranked in the top 3 in most categories in the league. He also lead the league in assists and power play assists this year which is a testament of his ability to see the ice very well. Nick was also the Most Valuable Defenseman and a First Team All-star in the Frontier Division. He was selected to play in the Top Prospects Tournament for the top players in the NA3HL in Michigan. Nick was also a very good leader for us as an Alternate Captain for the Dogs. I am so grateful Nick joined our team last year and now continuing his career at the NCAA D-III level at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The biggest surprise to me about Nick is he wasn't tendered or even offered a tender or drafted by the USHL or the NAHL during this off-season. So many teams missed a great player and an even better person."
The Icedog organization would like to wish Nick the very best in the rest of his career and thank him for his ability and leadership in his year with us.
