Eddie Cannon from Glendale Arizona will play a huge role with the Stampede this season stepping into the playing role that former Stamp captain Manny Rowe left vacant. Manny Rowe was one of the Stampede's top players last season and his void was going to be tough to fill.  But, he was not going to see his team struggle one bit after his departure.  "Manny said to me: Coach, I have a great guy for you to take over where I left off.  Eddie Cannon (Or as Manny refers to Eddie "Mini Me")" states Coach Beavis.  That started the ball rolling for the Stampede and Cannon as Coach Beavis offered Cannon a tender to play for the team without taking a chance of losing him in the draft.

" We were able to watch Eddie in the tier ll National Tournament this spring and were impressed with his style of play and skill level" stated coach Beavis

"Eddie is the ultimate teammate and will be an asset to any organization.  He has worked very hard and developed into a strong player and great guy to have in the room.  I am excited for him to follow in Manny's footsteps and believe he should excel..." Stated Coach Jeremy Goltz of Mission AZ.

The Stampede are excited to have Cannon on board as well.  The 6'1" 175lb Cannon is touted as a very good two way defenseman with a huge offensive upside to his game.  Cannon will most likley be paired with veteran defenceman Rich Hart this season as the two should balance both the offence and defence as a unit.

The Stampede are now only 30 days away from thier 2016-2017 training camp which begins August 29th at Morrisville State College.  The team will also take part in a small pre-camp the week prior to the start of the official camp.  "I asked a friend of mine that specializes in on and off ice training with college and junior level players to lend me a hand in running the guy's through a bit of on ice and some grueling off ice before we kick off camp and he was more than happy to help out." states Beavis.

The Stampede staff are attending the main camps for both Amarillo (NAHL) and Wichita Falls (NAHL) this week and are hoping to sew up the last few roster spots for the 2016-2017 season.  Assistant Coach Kyle Althen is in attendance and working close with the Amarillo coaching staff for players that will possibly play in Syracuse under the watchful eye of the NAHL team.  Scout Reggie Talkington is also on the road this week in Wichita Falls taking a look at several players he is familiar with as possible additions to the Stampede if they do not stick with the NAHL club.
