The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs get on top of the Seacoast Mavericks early but can't hang on in 3-2 loss

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (18-28) built an early edge on Wednesday, but the Seacoast Mavericks (32-15) roared back to steal a 3-2 victory at Doyle Field.

While the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs led until the ninth inning, the Seacoast Mavericks worked their way back and took the lead on an RBI double by Alvin Swoope.

Kyle Vesnesky was solid at the plate for the Seacoast Mavericks. Vesnesky went 3-5 and scored two runs. He singled in the first, third, and ninth innings.

Casey Aubin allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings of work.

Anthony Assante was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Seacoast Mavericks batters and allowing one run.

Tyler Beck got the win, running his season record to 3-2. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Ryne Ogren was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
