The Baltimore Redbirds (1-0) took home a 10-4 victory over the Herndon Braves (1-1) on Monday at Calvert Hall HS, fueled by four runs in the eighth inning.

The Baltimore Redbirds scored in the eighth on , an error, an error, an RBI single by Ryan Karstetter, an RBI single by DJ Miller, and a double by Ryan Sloniger.

The Herndon Braves were ahead early but they ultimately surrendered the lead for good. The Herndon Braves led until the fifth inning, but the Baltimore Redbirds took the lead back on an RBI single by Utah Jones.

Miller racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Baltimore Redbirds.

The Herndon Braves couldn't get anything going so long as Culver Hughes was on the hill. The Herndon Braves managed just two hits off of the the Baltimore Redbirds' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his four innings of work.

Derek Boyle ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out none.
