Steven Octave went 1-4 and hit a home run, sparking the Seacoast Mavericks (23-11) to a 7-4 victory over the Brockton Rox (15-20) on Thursday at Campanelli Stadium.

The Brockton Rox had no answer for Connor Russell, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Brockton Rox managed just three hits off of the the Seacoast Mavericks' pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out four during his five innings of work.

Chris Berry put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Brockton Rox. He homered in the second inning.

Cory Poplawski (2-1) took the loss for the Brockton Rox. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
