Our Minor Rookie Hamilton Cardinals captured the Oakridge (London) Tournament Title on Sunday.  The win was the Cardinals 1st tournament win of the summer. The Cardinals finished 4-0 during the tournament play with big wins versus Stratford, Waterloo, & Peterborough.

 

Sunday final's match up was against the Halton Hills Eagles, in a wild game that had many ups and downs and great defensive plays.  The Cardinals came out strong in the first two innings, building on their lead in the 3rd and 4th. Halton Hills stormed back into the game during the 5th & 6th inning and we found ourselves in a tie game to start the 7th. 

 

The Cardinals were able to get a rally going in the top of the 7th with some timely hits and aggressive base running that plated 2 runs, to take a 14-12 lead into the bottom of the 7th.  The Cardinals were able to shut out Halton Hills in the bottom half, thanks in large part to two great defensive plays to end the game.
