Stampede GM heads to Vegas for Global Showcase

Mike Beavis will be on the road recruiting as the summer season hits in full stride this weekend at the Global Hockey Showcase in Las Vegas, NV.  Coach Beavis is looking to secure a few more roster spots in what he feels has been one of the most competitive recruiting seasons he has ever witnessed.  "This season has been rough, between myself and assistant coach Althen I think we have spoken with upwards of 900 players around the world." states Beavis.

Tier lll hockey has become somewhat of a recruiting nightmare over the last couple of seasons due to the expansion of leagues and teams in all tier lll hockey.  "Players definitely have the upper hand... They need to watch out for the used car salesman and read between the lines, but I think that most players at least have a plan.   Not to say that some are not delusional  as to what level they should be at, but time will help them to discover the reality of where they are as a player." added Beavis.

The Stampede have been speaking with several of this year's draftees and are hopeful that they will pick up a few of them as the season approaches.  "I think we are coming together pretty good as a team at this point with nine players from last years squad returning it gave us a decent base.  We have added a few high end players as well as some key role players for next season and all's thats left is to fill in the blanks, hopefully with a few of our draft picks and the summer showcases ahead." said Beavis.

The Stampede will be in attendance at the "Chowder Cup" in Boston in a few weeks as Coach Althen will make the trip to pick up any last minute potential players to round off the 2016-2017 team.  The Stampede will begin training camp in late August in preperation for the start of the 2016-2017 season.  Players that are interested in playing for the Stampede are encouraged to email Head Coach Mike Beavis @ mbeavis@syracusestampede.com or Assistant Coach Kyle Althen @ asstcoach@syracusestampede.com
