Former Miami Dolphins President/Chief Operating Officer/FSHL Dad, Bryan Wiedmeier passed away on Tuesday after a long battle with brain cancer. He began his NFL front office career in 1981 with the Miami Dolphins, where he met his wife Mary. In 1989, he was promoted to assistant general manager. In January 2006, Wiedmeier was named president and COO of the team. On January 11, 2010, Wiedmeier ended his 29-year run with Miami (20 of them being winning seasons) and joined the Cleveland Browns as the executive vice president of business operations.
Wiedmeier didn’t just get the job done behind the scenes. He was a player, too. Bryan was a three-year starting center for Carroll, including as the team captain his senior season. His 1978 team is in the school’s Hall of Fame. That was his first season as a starter! In 2001, his oldest daughter Lauren entered high school at St.Thomas Aquinas, where she joined the schools ice hockey team and played all 4 years. Lauren was part of the league's most successful ice hockey team ever in 2005, ending the season undefeated (33-0). In the following years, her younger siblings Tori, Danielle and John also played for the school.
Bryan was an influence to so many people, the list goes on....including students, coaches, professional athletes, business owners and even highly ranked executives. He would always put others before himself and everyone always valued his opinion because of his vast experience in business and leadership. Lets face it, we all wanted to be more like Bryan deep down inside.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. #CancerSucks
