Jordon Cannons' goal at 3:02 of overtime lifted the Napanee Raiders to a huge 4-3 win in Picton over the Pirates and snapped a 3 game losing skid in the process.
Cannons, who was scratched the previous night at home, notched his 11th goal of the season for the winner in a back-and-forth contest. Captain Austin Boulard scored a powerplay and a shorthanded goal for his 19th and 20th goals of the season and Ryan Gibson added his third marker of the season, his first since back on September 22. Riley Steeves, Justynn Steven, Chad Caskenette and Brodie Butt (his first point since his return) drew the assists. For Picton, Mitch Burke (1G, 1A) and James Pero (2A) led the way on the scoresheet. Mitch Thompson and Riley Reynolds added the other Picton goals while TJ Patterson, Nate Kellar and Nick Devito added other helpers.
Cam Parr stopped 17 of 20 shots in the Napanee victory, while Charles Grimard stopped 34 of 38 shots in the Pirates cage in a valiant losing cause.
The Raiders improve to 19-9-4 on the season with the win, while Picton falls to 7-23-1 with the defeat. Napanee heads to Amherstview on Sunday for their next game at 7:30 at the WJ Henderson Centre looking to close the gap late in the season on the Port Hope Panthers for top spot in the Empire B Jr. C league.
