Jack Scanlan had two goals and one assist to lead the Stratford Cullitons to a 3-1 victory over the London Nationals.
Scanlan scored at 12:59 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Stratford and again while 19:50 into the third to make the score 3-1 Stratford.The win gave Stratford a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.
The Cullitons forced London goalie Connor Hughes to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.
Stratford also got a goal from Zach Van Louwe as well. In addition, Stratford received assists from Anthony Kotsovos, who had one and Zander Pryor, who had two.
The Nationals were led by Brenden Trottier, who scored the team's only goal. Trottier scored 15:27 into the first period to make the score 1-0 London. Kyle Robinson provided the assist.
Alexander Brooks-Potts rejected 21 shots on goal for Stratford. The Cullitons incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Hughes recorded 33 saves for London. The Nationals incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
