The Leamington Flyers relied on the scoring touch of Scott Emerson, who netted two goals, to beat the Chatham Maroons, 3-1.
Emerson's tallies came at 3:59 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Leamington and 19:49 into the third to make the score 3-1 Leamington.With the win, Leamington evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.
The Flyers were led by goalie Tyler Wall, who finished with 40 saves while allowing one goal. Wall certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.67 entering the contest.
Leamington pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 42 penalty minutes.
The Flyers' offense rang up 31 shots on Chatham's net. Leamington was effective with a man advantage, and put in two goals while on the power play.
Mark Gangnon also scored for Leamington. More assists for Leamington came via J.P. Grineau, Jacob McGhee, Cale Phibbs, Matthew Opblinger, and Derek Elliott, who contributed one each.
The Maroons' offense rang up 41 shots on the Flyers' net.
Chatham was led by Gus Ford, who scored the team's only goal. Ford scored on the power play 1:13 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Austin Thompson provided the assist.
Team's Mitchell Crevatin and David Storey were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game. Brendan Johnston made 28 saves for the Maroons on 30 shots. Chatham incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
