The game between the Chatham Maroons and the Leamington Flyers was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Chatham emerged with a 4-3 win.
The Maroons gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ross Krieger 8:08 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer.
The win by Chatham broke a deadlock and gave the Maroons a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series.
Chatham was sparked by Krieger, who registered one goal.
Chatham also had goals scored by Michael Douglas, Steven Beenackers, and Teddy McGeen, who each put in one. In addition, Chatham received assists from Devin Panzeca, Austin Thompson, and Ian Faubert, who contributed one each and Ryan Fraser and Gus Ford, who each chipped in two.
Leamington kept the Maroons' goalie busy throughout the game, and Brendan Johnston made 31 saves on 34 shots.
The Flyers were helped by Scott Florence, who tallied one goal. Florence scored on the power play 7:53 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Leamington had taken the advantage when Chatham's Josh Barraclough got sent off for charging. Jacob McGhee assisted on the tally. Leamington additionally got points from McGhee, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Leamington also got a goal from Scott Emerson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Leamington were J.P. Grineau, Mark Manchurek, and Matthew Opblinger, who contributed one each.
The Maroons incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Tyler Wall made 15 saves for the Flyers on 19 shots. Leamington incurred 26 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
