Texas' Nick Nitta had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 8-4 win over Atlanta.
Nitta found the back of the net on the power play 3:07 into the third period to make the score 5-5 and again while on the power play 14:31 into the third to make the score 8-5 Texas.The win by Texas clinched the best of three series at 2-1.
Atlanta's 12 penalties came back to haunt it, as Atlanta let up four goals while on the penalty kill.
Texas forced Atlanta's goalies to work in net, firing 37 shots and forcing 29 saves. Aleksandr Zendejas made 23 stops and Corey Boettcher made six. Texas' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.
Texas additionally got points from Victor Ekk, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Kyle Galloway, who also registered one goal and two assists, and Sam Gagnon, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Texas also got a goal from Bryan Whelan as well. More assists for Texas came via Ryan Dunner, who had four and Jacob Elrod, Oliver Hay, George Hansen, and Zack Andersen, who each chipped in one.
Atlanta was helped by Ross Bartlett, who had one goal. Bartlett scored 17:37 into the second period to make the score 5-4 Atlanta. Drew Kelly picked up the assist. Others who scored for Atlanta included Kyle Rimbach, Jack Cleaver, Drake Cartwright, and Alex Johanson, who scored one goal each. Tyler Myers rejected 24 shots on goal for Texas. Texas incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Atlanta totaled 67 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors and one major and went 2-for-2 on the power play. Atlanta ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Bartlett was ejected from the game.
