Vengeance Finish Season on High Note

Date:  Source: NA3HL Pittsburgh Vengeance

The Pittsburgh Vengeance went into the weekend trying to build some positive momentum for next year, hosting the Wolves of West Michigan for a two game set. Saturday night's game didn't go as planned, as the Vengeance fell behind early before Vincent Casale tied it up at 1-1 with assists going to Dom Glavach and Gavin Cummings. The Wolves jumped out to a 2-1 lead midway thru the second period before Perry Shiring tied it at 2-2 with an assist going to Adam Schaffer. The Wolves struck for two late goals to take a 4-2 lead into the third period. West Michigan scored early into the third to make it 5-2 before Pittsburgh tallied a late goal from Schaffer assisted by Brain Grant and Shiring to cut the final deficit to 5-3. Jacob Stack took the loss in goal, stopping 31 out of 36 shots.

"We played well in stretches, but that doesn't get it done at this level," said Coach Dorsey.

Pittsburgh came out Sunday determined to give a better effort in the final game of the regular season. Devin Sroka put Pittsburgh up 1-0 assisted by Gavin Cummings and Vincent Casale, and the score remained that way after one period of play. Camron Smith scored midway through the second period set up by Auston Palumbo and James Stiles to put the Vengeance ahead 2-0. Casale scored the Vengeance's third marker off a rebound of a Dom Glavach shot late in the middle period, and Pittsburgh took the 3-0 lead into the locker room. Glavach sealed the 4-0 victory with a late goal with assists going to Adam Schaffer and Cummings. Jacob Stack, making his final junior start, stopped all 21 shots for the shutout in net for the Vengeance.

"Great team effort, and I'm so proud of the way the guys competed for Stack in his final start," said Coach Dorsey. "We needed to finish on a positive note and we gave our best effort of the year."

The Pittsburgh Vengeance will hold a Pre Draft camp at the Alpha Ice Complex in Harmar, PA on the weekend of Saturday, April 30th and Sunday, May 1st. Online registration will be available shortly.
