With the win, St. Thomas avoided elimination to make the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series.
In the losing effort, Chatham were sparked by Austin Thompson, who had two goals and one assist. Thompson scored the first of his two goals at 8:59 into the second period to make the score 4-3 St. Thomas. The goal was assisted by Ryan Fraser and Ian Faubert. Thompson's next tally made the score 5-4 St. Thomas in the third period. Steven Beenackers and Faubert registered the assists on the goal.
Stars put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Maroons to score on any of their four power plays.
St. Thomas additionally got points from Kyle Dawson, who also registered one goal and two assists. In addition, St. Thomas received assists from Adam Keyes, who had two.
Chatham kept St. Thomas's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nikolas Dampier made 48 saves on 52 shots.
Chatham also got points from Beenackers, who also registered one goal and one assist and Faubert, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Chatham came via Gus Ford, Michael Levesque, and Fraser, who each chipped in one.
Stars incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Butler recorded 12 saves for Maroons. Chatham incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
