The Markham Royals relied on the scoring touch of Jeff Joynt, who netted two goals, to beat the Whitby Fury, 4-1.

Joynt's tallies came at 14:16 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Markham and 19:16 into the first to make the score 2-1 Markham.

With the win, Markham evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Whitby was stymied by the Royals' netminder Marcus Semiao, who stopped 34 shots during the victory. Semiao managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.16 prior to the game.

Markham also got a goal from Aaron Spivak as well. In addition, Markham received assists from Trevor Abbot, who had two and Brandon Washer, Lucas Condotta, and Jonathan Prasnjak, who each chipped in one.

The Fury excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Markham was unable to stop Whitby from sending pucks towards the net, and the Fury eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Whitby was led by Nik Coric, who scored the team's only goal. Coric scored on the power play 16:14 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Fury had gotten the advantage when the Royals' Rylee St. Onge was sent off for tripping. Ryan Taylor provided the assist.

Markham incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors. Daniel Mannella recorded 25 saves for Whitby. The Fury incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
