PART 2 Pearson wants to finish Jr. career in Owen Sound
Date: May 15, 2020
On Thursday, February 25th / 2016, the Cyclones travelled south into Brantford. After 60 minutes of hard fought play against a tough and determined 99’ers squad; the Red, White and Black emerged with a 5-2 win.
The game was all important for both teams as the win clinched 3rd place for the Cyclones; meanwhile the 99’ers have 2 games left and trail a fast fading 7th place Brampton team by 4 points; as both teams try to avoid a 1st round playoff match up against Kitchener.
The home side got on the scoreboard first at 8:47 but the Cyclones responded at 11:14 as Austin Huizenga and Chayse Herrfort set up Caleb Warren for an even strength goal.
A late first period penalty translated into an early 2nd period power play marker at 1:23 by Cyclones sniper Jamie Huber. Brady Anderson and Kade Landry assisted on the play. Credit the Brantford squad as they roared back to tie the game with an even strength goal at 6:36.
In the third period the Cyclones grabbed control of the outcome, pelting the Brantford net with 18 shots and scoring 3 even strength goals in a span of 5 and a half minutes. At 3:59, super sniper Brady Anderson hit the twine, with assists to Jamie Huber and Blake Pickering. At 8:20 it was Kade Landry from Jamie Huber and Brady Anderson. The final outcome was cemented into place at 9:24 with Jamie Huber’s second goal of the game; assisted by Holdyn Lansink and Brady Anderson.
The Cyclones overpowered the opposition with 46 shots on goal while allowing 32 on Tyler Fassl. Once again Fassl played a steady game in the blue paint for the Cyclones. The Cyclones were 1 for 2 on the power play and 2 for 2 on the penalty kill. Both teams had 2 minor penalties….with playoffs in the near future, both teams kept to themselves rather than engage in the hardnosed play that usually ensues when these two teams clash.
It is interesting to note that the win was the 32nd of the season, which sets a new franchise record.
After 60 minutes of play, the Cyclonic Performers of the Game looked like this:
3 Points: Jamie Huber #26 - The sophomore forward continued his break out season with 2 goals and 2 assists to help pace the Cyclones scoring attack. Jamie leads the Cyclones in regular season scoring and is in the top 10 in the GOJHL scoring stats.
2 Points: Brady Anderson #7 - The sophomore sniper from Chesley scored once and assisted 3 times. Number 7 is one of several forwards on this team that can shoot a puck with deadly accuracy and can also make some good scoring plays in the offensive zone
1 Point: Kade Landry #9 - The rookie blue liner from Gowanstown scored once and assisted once. Kade continues to improve as the season rolls along. Look for this fellow to make a sparkling contribution in the March Madness playoffs.
Come to the rink and support the Cyclones as they continue to churn through their February GOJHL schedule….Bleed Red, White & Black!!!!
