Mount Forest holds on for 5-4 win against Kincardine

The Kincardine Bulldogs tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Mount Forest Patriots held on for a 5-4 victory.

A goal by Trevor Hughson put Mount Forest up 5-3 in the third period, but Kincardine pulled to within one on Robert White's tally 7:36 into the third period.

With the win, the Patriots avoided elimination to make the series score 3-3 in the best of seven series.

Hughson had two goals and one assist to lead Mount Forest. Hughson scored the first of his two goals at 33 seconds into the second period to make the score 4-3 Mount Forest. Doug Costanzo assisted on the tally. Hughson's next tally made the score 5-3 Mount Forest with 17:02 left in the third period. Costanzo picked up the assist.

Mount Forest additionally got points from Doug Ardis, who also registered one goal and one assist. Mount Forest also had goals scored by Riley OConnell and Shawn Lantz, who each put in one. In addition, Mount Forest received assists from Mitch Betts, who had two and Brendon Aitken and Ty Jackson, who contributed one each.

The Bulldogs' offense rang up 47 shots on the Patriots' net.

Kincardine was helped by Gerrit Satosek, who tallied two goals and one assist. Satosek scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:56 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kincardine. A hooking penalty on Blair Butchart had put the Bulldogs on the power play. Shawn Moore provided the assist. Satosek's next tally on the power play made the score 3-1 Kincardine with 3:45 left in the first period. Jordan Bell picked up the assist. Kincardine also got points from White, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Moore, who also grabbed one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. More assists for Kincardine came via Dalton Hnatko and Tyler Fregona, who each chipped in one.

Mathieu Oullette rejected 43 shots on goal for Mount Forest. The Patriots incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jacob Hutchings made 22 saves for Kincardine on 27 shots. The Bulldogs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
