Napanee rips Amherstview, 9-2

The Napanee Raiders had a five-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 9-2 win over the Amherstview Jets.

After the loss made the series score 3-1 in the best of seven series, Amherstview faces elimination next time out.

Cullen Hinds had two goals and one assist to lead Napanee. Hinds scored the first of his two goals at 7:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Napanee. Jordan Cannons provided the assist. Hinds' next tally made the score 7-2 Napanee with 1:47 left in the second period. Justynn Steven assisted on the tally.

The Raiders forced the Jets' goalies to work all game long, taking 47 shots and forcing 38 saves. Ryan Kaszuba made 10 stops and Adam Redgate made 28.

Napanee also got points from Brodie Butt, who also finished with one goal and one assist, Tyler Romain, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Brandon Major, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Steven, who also had one goal and two assists. Riley Steeves also scored for Napanee. In addition, Napanee received assists from Aidan McFarland, who had three and Michael Parr, Zack Revell, and Zach Knapp-Hermer, who each chipped in one.

Cameron Parr made 28 saves for Napanee on 30 shots. The Raiders totaled 51 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For Napanee, Matt Tedford was ejected from the game. Amherstview totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. The Jets ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Brett Maracle was ejected from the game.
