Napanee's comeback falls short, Amherstview wins 5-3

The Amherstview Jets, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by the Napanee Raiders and clinched a 5-3 victory.

Amherstview led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Jets' Brett Yake scored at 25 seconds in the third period to put Amherstview up 4-1.

With the win, the Jets evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

Cody Jodoin had two goals and one assist to lead Amherstview. Jodoin scored the first of his two goals at 9:38 into the second period to make the score 3-0 Amherstview. Jordan Howe assisted on the tally. Jodoin's next tally made the score 5-3 Amherstview with eight seconds left in the third period.

In a losing effort, Napanee was paced by Riley Steeves, who finished with two goals. Steeves scored the first of his two goals at 1:42 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Amherstview. Aidan McFarland picked up the assist. Steeves' next tally made the score 4-3 Amherstview with 17:12 left in the third period. Zach Knapp-Hermer assisted on the tally.

The Jets kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cameron Parr made 35 saves on 40 shots.

Amherstview also got points from Yake, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Dorian Overland and Wyatt Crampton, who each put in one. In addition, Amherstview received assists from Cody Smith and Adam Kim, who contributed one each.

Napanee's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Amherstview power plays. Amherstview was unable to stop the Raiders from sending pucks towards the net, and Napanee eventually piled up 35 shots on goal.

Will Peirson also scored for Napanee. More assists for Napanee came via Brodie Butt and Tyler Romain, who each chipped in one.

Ryan Kaszuba recorded 32 saves for the Jets. Amherstview incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Raiders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
