Amherstview falls to Napanee in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Napanee Raiders' Cullen Hinds scored 1:27 into overtime to beat the Amherstview Jets, 5-4 (OT).

The win gave Napanee a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.

The Raiders came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. Napanee was down 4-2 after a goal by Amherstview's Adam Kim at 17:55 in the second period. The Raiders knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Jordan Cannons at 18:49 in the third period.

Napanee got the win behind a great game by Cannons, who had two goals and one assist. Cannons scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 4:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Napanee. The Raiders had gotten the advantage when the Jets' Konner Burtenshaw was sent off for interference. Hinds picked up the assist. Cannons' next tally on the power play made the score 4-4 with 1:11 left in the third period. Riley Steeves provided the assist.

Napanee kept Amherstview's goalie busy throughout the game, and Ryan Kaszuba made 32 saves on 37 shots. Penalties took their toll on the Raiders, as their penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

Napanee also got points from Tyler Romain, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Hinds, who also registered one goal and one assist. Aidan McFarland also scored for Napanee. In addition, Napanee received assists from Austin Boulard, who had one.

The Jets were led by Adam Alcorn, who finished with one goal and two assists. Alcorn scored on the power play 9:29 into the second period to make the score 2-2. A cross checking penalty on Nicolas Schuler had put Amherstview on the power play. Dorian Overland picked up the assist. Others who scored for Amherstview included Cody Jodoin and Max Brunner, who each put in one. More assists for Amherstview came via Brett Yake, Zach Maciel, and Jordan Howe, who each chipped in one.

Cameron Parr recorded 25 saves for Napanee. The Raiders incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Jets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. For Amherstview, Howe was ejected from the game.
