The Kincardine Bulldogs were firing on all cylinders against the Mount Forest Patriots, and when the final buzzer sounded Bulldogs emerged with a 5-1 win.
The win gave Kincardine a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series.
The Bulldogs got the win with help from a great game by Tyler Fregona, who had one goal and two assists. Fregona scored 6:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Kincardine. Logan Freiburger picked up the assist.
Kincardine's Jacob Hutchings was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 28 saves and let only one puck past him. Hutchings managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.2 prior to the game.
The Bulldogs' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Mount Forest power plays. Kincardine forced Mount Forest goalie Mathieu Oullette to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.
Kincardine also got points from Eric Langridge, who also had one goal and one assist. Kincardine also got a goal from Patrick Wiejak as well. More assists for Kincardine came via Shane Vollmer, who had one and Matthew Mah, who had four.
The Patriots were led by Ty Jackson, who scored the team's only goal. Jackson scored 2:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1.
The Bulldogs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Oullette rejected 30 shots on goal for Mount Forest. The Patriots incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
