This article has more to do with the names of the players that had played in the Silver Stick Finals and less to do with the Tournamnent games and such. I'm definitely not a historian, but I've always been intrigued by the names of people that have played throughout the years. I have tracked all of the programs and/or names of the players from every year except the first in 1963. This is the final installment, please enjoy!
2011
We had 2434 players last year. These players are just now starting Midget Minor, so there isn't alot of details about them. A few interesting sons of former professionals played this year. Claude Lemieux's son Brendan, Mario Lemieux's son Austin, Al MacInnis' son Ryan to name a few. George Moss was in his second year as Tournament Director.
2010
We had 2401 players that year. George Moss was in his first year as Tournament Director. Players that played in this year are still currently early in their Junior careers. Here are some of the more prominent names that are thought to eventually play in the NHL. Max Domi, Taylor Cammarata, Malcolm Subban and Alex Smith.
2009
We had 2452 players that year, and this is the most that we've ever had to date. This was also the last year that our beloved Pat Hills was Tournament Director, you'll also notice a sort of broken record seeing his name as Tournament Director! Some prominent names from this year are Nick Schilkey, Max Iafrate, Branden Hope, and Seth Jones.
2008
We had 2433 players that played that year. Pat Hills was the Tournament Director. This year we had prominent NHL Draftees and are just about ready for the NHL after their last couple years of Junior/College Hockey. Ryan Strome, Vince Trochek, Daniel Catennaci, and Ryan Murphy.
2007
We had 2428 players that played that year. Pat Hills was the Tournament Director. We've had two players that have played that year that are now in the NHL. More to follow, but here they are Devante Smith-Pelly and Brandon Saad.
2006
We had 2285 players that played that year. Pat Hills was the Tournament Director. We've had 7 total players so far go on to play in the NHL from this year. Brandon Pirri, Tyler Seguin, Evander Kane, Stefan Elliot, Jeremy Morin, Peter Holland and Cam Fowler so far!
2005
We had 2102 players that played that year. Pat Hills was the Tournament Director. We've had a total of 17 players move on to the NHL so far, with more to follow. Some of the names are Stefan DellaRovere, Michael DelZotto, Steven Stamkos, Cody Hodgson and Jeff Skinner to name a few.
2004
We had 2052 players that played that year. Pat Hills was the Tournament Director. We've had 17 players to date move on to the NHL Ranks, with more to follow. Some of the names are as follows Logan Couture, Zac Dalpe, Sam Gagner, Kevin Shattenkirk and John Tavares.
2003
We had 2005 players that played that year. Pat Hills was the Tournament Director. We've had 29 players so far make the NHL Ranks. Some of the more prominent names are as follows Patrick Maroon, Matt Hackett, Jamie McGinn, John Moore and Alex Pietrangelo.
2002
We had 1786 players that played that year. Pat Hills was the Tournament Director. We've had 34 players so far that have made it to the NHL for at least one game. Here are a few of them, Max Pacioretty, Bobby Ryan, Jack Johnson, Claude Giroux and Patrick Kane.
2001
We had 1705 players that played that year. Pat Hills was the Tournament Director. We've had a total of 19 players so far make it to the NHL. Some of the more prominent names are, Cal Clutterbuck, Blake Geoffrion, Nathan Gerbe, Paul Statsny and Drew Stafford.
2000
We had 1594 players that played that year. Pat Hillls was the Tournament Director. We've had a total of 21 of them, eventually play at least a game in the NHL. Some of them are as follows: Bryan Bickell, Jared Boll, Christian Hanson, Tim Kennedy, Tyler Kennedy and Rick Nash.
We had a run on 1st overall draft picks within these age groups. The fun thing about the lists here is that it is evolving every day. I look at the NHL Website a few times a week and update the list and there are names being added almost every time I look! Of the 141 rookies that have played up to today's games, 32 of them played in our tournament.
