The Sarnia Legionnaires rallied from three goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Strathroy Rockets.
Sarnia never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Legionnaires trailed 3-0 after a power play goal by Strathroy's Dante Copps at 9:35 in the second period. Sarnia tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Alec DeKoning at 5:16 in the third period. The Legionnaires scored the game winner on the power play at 9:24 in the third period on a goal by DeKoning.
Sarnia was led by Brock Perry, who had one goal.
The Legionnaires' offense rang up 34 shots on the Rockets' net. Sarnia found itself short handed often, totaling 30 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.
Sarnia additionally got points from Ryan Vendramin, who also racked up one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Brandon Layman, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Sarnia came via Sam McCormack, Jarret Marks, Jordan Fogarty, Brett Storr, and Brad Yowart, who contributed one each.
Strathroy forced the Legionnaires goalie Aidan Hughes to work between the pipes, taking 45 shots.
The Rockets were helped by Nick Griffin, who finished with one goal. Griffin scored short handed 19:15 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Strathroy. Strathroy found itself down a man on Kieran Milne's too many men. Strathroy also got points from Copps, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Shane Bulitka, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Strathroy received assists from Max Ewart and TJ Harris, who each chipped in one.
Hughes rejected 42 shots on goal for Sarnia. The Legionnaires registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Rockets' Dane Gubbels stopped 30 shots out of the 34 that he faced. Strathroy incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
