Crilley's big game bests Butler in 4-1 Seneca Valley win

Seneca Valley's Alexander Crilley had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 4-1 win over Butler.

Crilley got on the board by slotting home a goal 1:30 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Seneca Valley. Shane Galis picked up the assist. Crilley dished an assist on Robert Sheils's goal that made the score 3-1 Seneca Valley at 4:35 into the second period. He added another helper on Tyler Murphy's goal that made the score 4-1 Seneca Valley at 9:03 into the third period.

Butler was stymied by Seneca Valley's netminder Dylan Sloat, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. The solid play of Sloat will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.24.

Seneca Valley pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 12 penalty minutes.

Seneca Valley's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Butler power plays. Seneca Valley kept Butler's goalie busy throughout the game, and Zachary Schnur made 28 saves on 32 shots.

Seneca Valley also got a goal from Christopher Lipnicky as well. In addition, Seneca Valley received assists from Connor Williams, who had one and Nicholas Raible, who had two.

Butler put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Seneca Valley to score on any of its three power plays. Butler was held below its usual level of production. Butler averages 4.1 goals per game. Butler forced Seneca Valley goalie Sloat to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

Butler was led by Trevor Gilliland, who scored the team's only goal. Gilliland scored 7:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Butler. Christopher Martin assisted on the tally.

Butler incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
