The Little Britain Merchants gutted out a close 3-2 win against the North Kawartha Knights.
Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Aidan Renouf's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.
Renouf was all over the ice for Little Britain, as he had two goals in the win.
The Merchants' offense rang up 48 shots on North Kawartha's net.
Hayden Long also scored for Little Britain. More assists for Little Britain came via Jordan Sharpe, Kenzie Smith, Derek Risebrough, Keegan Cairns, and Reed Westington, who contributed one each.
The Knights kept Little Britain's goalie busy throughout the game, and Garrett Haden made 29 saves on 31 shots. North Kawartha struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 44 penalty minutes for six opposing power plays.
The Knights were helped by Justin Thain, who racked up one goal. Thain scored on the power play 16:59 into the third period to make the score 2-2. North Kawartha had gotten the advantage when the Merchants' Smith was sent off for roughing. Russell Fontyn picked up the assist. North Kawartha also got a goal from Matt Douglas as well. In addition, North Kawartha received assists from Shawnessy Borden, who had one.
Little Britain incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Jake Ireland rejected 45 shots on goal for the Knights. North Kawartha registered one goal on four power play opportunities.
