Serra Catholic survives Kiski Area comeback, wins 4-2

Serra Catholic survived a determined comeback attempt by Kiski Area on the way to a 4-2 win.

A goal by Richard Ware put Serra Catholic up 4-1 in the third period, but Kiski Area pulled to within two on James Ayres's tally 13:50 into the third period.

Serra Catholic was sparked by Michael Ulishney, who registered one goal and one assist. Ulishney scored 10:40 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Serra Catholic. Joseph Goldstein picked up the assist.

Serra Catholic put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Kiski Area to score on any of its three power plays. Serra Catholic was held below its usual level of production. Serra Catholic puts an average of 6.2 pucks into the net per game. Serra Catholic kept Kiski Area's goalie busy throughout the game, and Alexander Ferraro made 36 saves on 40 shots. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Others who scored for Serra Catholic included Zachary Zapata and Kevin Jerome, who scored one goal each. More assists for Serra Catholic came via Roman Kraemer, Jacob Weiss, and Gage Billingsley, who each chipped in one.

Serra Catholic was unable to stop Kiski Area from sending pucks towards the net, and Kiski Area eventually piled up 47 shots on goal.

Kiski Area was helped by Ben Sites, who tallied one goal. Sites scored 9:03 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Serra Catholic. Brandon Stephens assisted on the tally. Kiski Area also got points from Ayres, who also had one goal and one assist. In addition, Kiski Area received assists from Mike Eisaman, who had one.

Tyrik Barkley made 45 saves for Serra Catholic on 47 shots. Serra Catholic totaled 29 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Serra Catholic ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Kraemer was ejected from the game. Kiski Area incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
