Napanee blows out Amherstview, 6-3

The Napanee Raiders were firing on all cylinders against the Amherstview Jets, and when the final buzzer sounded Raiders emerged with a 6-3 win.

Aidan McFarland had two goals and one assist to lead Napanee. McFarland scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 19:54 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Napanee. The Raiders had gotten the advantage when Amherstview's Cody Jodoin was sent off for interference. Riley Steeves picked up the assist. McFarland's next tally on the power play made the score 5-2 Napanee with 3:29 left in the second period. Zach Knapp-Hermer assisted on the tally.

The Jets' power play was ineffective against Napanee's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Raiders' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Amherstview power plays. Napanee forced Amherstview goalie Adam Redgate to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots.

Napanee also got points from Knapp-Hermer, who also registered one goal and one assist. Justynn Steven also scored for Napanee. More assists for Napanee came via Michael Parr, who had one and Brodie Butt and Jordan Cannons, who contributed two each.

The Jets were held below their usual level of production. Amherstview puts an average of 5.3 pucks into the net per game. The Jets kept the Raiders' goalie busy throughout the game, and Cameron Parr made 32 saves on 35 shots.

Amherstview was helped by Cody Smith, who finished with one goal. Smith scored 12:49 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Napanee. Adam Alcorn picked up the assist. Amherstview also had goals scored by Zach Maciel and Jordan Howe, who each put in one. Other players who recorded assists for Amherstview were Brett Yake, Joey Mayer, and Brett Maracle, who each chipped in one.

Napanee incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Redgate recorded 41 saves for the Jets. Amherstview incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
