Burford outlasts Woodstock, 5-3

The game between the Burford Bulldogs and the Woodstock Navy Vets was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Burford emerged with a 5-3 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by David Denardi at 1:38 of the third period.

The Bulldogs were led by Daiken Salsman, who tallied one goal. Salsman scored 11:26 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Burford. Warren Gorman AP assisted on the tally.

In a losing effort, Woodstock was sparked by Chris Thompson, who had two goals. Thompson scored the first of his two goals at 2:37 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Woodstock. Jeremy Racicot picked up the assist. Thompson's next tally made the score 4-3 Burford with 5:24 left in the third period. Justin Elms provided the assist.

The Navy Vets were unable to stop Burford from sending pucks towards the net, and the Bulldogs eventually piled up 49 shots on goal.

Burford also got points from Denardi, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Gorman AP, who also registered one goal and one assist. Burford also had goals scored by Jesse Brooks and Mitch Randell, who each put in one. In addition, Burford received assists from Hayden Hellyer, who had two and Connor MacKay, who had three.

Woodstock excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Navy Vets' offense rang up 45 shots on Burford's net.

Woodstock also got a goal from Dan Haig as well. More assists for Woodstock came via Austin Richardson and Cam Leslie, who contributed one each.

The Bulldogs' Michael Black stopped 42 shots out of the 45 that he faced. Burford incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mike Harrison recorded 44 saves for Woodstock. The Navy Vets incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
