Indiana takes care of John Marshall early, wins 11-3

John Marshall fell behind early, and Indiana kept piling on the points on the way to an 11-3 victory.

Indiana got the win thanks to a great game by Patrick ONeal, who had four goals and two assists. ONeal's first goal came 3:35 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:22 into the first, at 14:32 into the first, and at 8:39 into the second.

Indiana's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five John Marshall power plays. Indiana's goal total was higher than its season average. Indiana averages 5.6 goals per game. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Indiana additionally got points from Mitchell Lewis, who also tallied one goal and three assists, Tyler Barker, who also had three goals and one assist, and Ethan Boyer, who also grabbed one goal and four assists. Indiana also had goals scored by Gage Charlton and Nate Faris, who scored one goal each. More assists for Indiana came via Matt Swatsworth, who had two and Dillion Butz and Jacob Clark, who contributed one each.

Penalties took their toll on John Marshall, as its penalty kill unit let in three power play goals.

John Marshall was helped by Nicholas Solema, who racked up one goal. Solema scored 13:29 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Indiana. Luke Neary provided the assist. Others who scored for John Marshall included Ryley Jones and Matthew Knight, who each put in one. In addition, John Marshall received assists from Collin Nice and Christian Hayden, who each chipped in one.

Zane McElhenny made three saves before being replaced by Megan Lydick, who took the win and made 12 saves. Indiana incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. John Marshall's starting goalie, Hunter Staten, made 14 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Levi Smith, who stopped two shots. John Marshall incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
