Story by Brock Ormond

For the fourth time this season, the Napanee Raiders and Amherstview Jets had to play bonus hockey and for the second time, the Raiders came out victorious with a 5-4 result.

Justynn Steven notched the overtime winner from Aidan McFarland and Matt Muller just over a minute into the extra period to seal Napanee’s 18th win of the season. Jordon Cannons (on a powerplay), Tyler Romain, Austin Boulard (shorthanded) and Cullen Hinds all scored in regulation for Napanee, while Amherstview got their markers from Konner Burtenshaw, Cody Smith, Brett Yake and Joey Mayer in a seesaw battle on Sunday night.

Boulard and Romain added helpers along with Ryley Richardson, Zach Knapp-Hermer and Chad Caskenette for Napanee. Amherstview got their assists from Adam Alcorn (2), Cody Jodoin, Zach Maciel, and Jordan Howe.

The Raiders get off to a dramatic start in 2016 and will look to continue their stretch drive with their first home game of the calendar year when they take on the Campbellford Rebels at the Strathcona Paper Centre. Hope to see you all there!
