South Park tried its best to erase a three-goal deficit, but Gateway would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2.
Gateway made the score 4-1 on a goal by Jordan Robbins at 2:04 in the third period, and South Park got as close as 4-2 when Ethan Yaworski scored 7:16 into the third period.
Gateway excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Gateway's offense rang up 38 shots on South Park's net. Gateway's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Gateway finished with 26 penalty minutes.
Gateway also got a goal from Jonathan Porter as well. More assists for Gateway came via William McAllister, who had two and Garrett Hamilton, Ryan Taylor, Leo Grattan, and Anthony Palmieri, who each chipped in one.
South Park's offense operated below its season average. South Park puts an average of 4.6 pucks into the net per game. South Park kept Gateway's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cameron Balistrieri made 36 saves on 38 shots. South Park excelled on the penalty kill, only allowing Gateway to get one power play goal on 11 chances.
