The Picton Pirates' Nick Devito had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing one assist in his team's 5-2 win over the Gananoque Islanders.
Devito found the back of the net 51 seconds into the third period to make the score 3-1 Picton and again while 18:54 into the third to make the score 5-2 Picton.
Picton's penalty kill excelled, as the Pirates gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.
Picton stifled Gananoque's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Pirates' offense rang up 35 shots on the Islanders' net. Picton outdid its season average for goals scored. The Pirates have scored at the pace of 2.5 goals per game during the current campaign.
Picton also got points from TJ Patterson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Picton included Gavin Ronan and Mitch Thompson, who each put in one. In addition, Picton received assists from Mitch Burke, Zack Harris, and Gerald Bilker, who each chipped in one and Devin McCann and Mitchell Merry, who contributed two each.
Gananoque kept Picton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Charles Grimard made 30 saves on 32 shots.
The Islanders were led by Ryosuke Kabayashi, who registered one goal and one assist. Kabayashi scored 3:59 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Gananoque. Brenden Lochead assisted on the tally. Gananoque also got a goal from Craig Cross as well. More assists for Gananoque came via Chris Boushy, who had one.
The Pirates incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Quinn Cota recorded 30 saves for Gananoque. The Islanders incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
