South Fayette uses early goal to top Gateway, 4-2

South Fayette beat Gateway, 4-2, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

South Fayette took over the lead for good with a goal by Logan McConnell at 14:37 in the first period. Jeremy Anthos provided the assist.

South Fayette got the win behind a great game by Spencer Barber, who had two goals and two assists. Barber scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 14:06 into the second period to make the score 3-1 South Fayette. South Fayette earned a power play opportunity when Nolan Baker was put in the box for interference. Dante Cecere picked up the assist. Barber's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 South Fayette with 3:03 left in the third period.

South Fayette cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring two goals on three chances.

Jacob Stack also scored for South Fayette.

Gateway was helped by Ryan Taylor, who racked up one goal. Taylor scored 9:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 South Fayette. Leo Grattan assisted on the tally. Gateway also got a goal from Tanner Davis as well. More assists for Gateway came via Nicholas Falvo, Jonathan Porter, and Anthony Palmieri, who each chipped in one.

South Fayette's Bruce Hardman stopped 20 shots out of the 22 that he faced. South Fayette incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Cameron Balistrieri made 20 saves for Gateway on 23 shots. Gateway incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
