Minnesota downs Evansville, 5-2

Joe Guimont finished with two points to lead Minnesota to a 5-2 victory over Evansville.

 

Evansville was unable to stop Minnesota from sending pucks towards the net, and Minnesota eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Minnesota outdid its season average for goals scored. Minnesota averages 2.8 goals per game.

Minnesota also got points from Kyle Wendorf, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kevin Donahue, who also had one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Minnesota included Jacob Cox and Tre Opack, who each put in one. In addition, Minnesota received assists from Alec Skar, who had two and Austyn Renn and Dylan Pechovnik, who each chipped in one.

Evansville was helped by Mathieu Laforest, who registered one goal. Laforest scored 14:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Evansville. Evansville also got a goal from Michael Kelley as well. Other players who recorded assists for Evansville were Jon Grimm and Triston Theriot, who contributed one each.

Dakota McDonald rejected 27 shots on goal for Minnesota. Minnesota incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Brian Forness made 34 saves for Evansville on 39 shots. Evansville incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
